After the birth of "new fiction" in1902, people established a large number of Fiction Periodicals, and the rise and prosperity of them become the distinctive characteristics of literature during the Late Qing Dynasty. This paper centering on the study of the performance and characteristics of the commercial tendency of the Four Fiction Periodicals in the last decade of Qing Dynasty(1902-1911).This paper is divided into four chapters. The first chapter briefly introduces Four Fiction Periodicals in Late Qing Dynasty. Then discusses the reasons of the rise and prosperity of Fiction Periodicals,and the characteristics of Fiction Periodicals, and reveals the contradictions generated by the purpose of the magazine and the reality of Four Fiction Periodicals. The second chapter studies author groups in Four Fiction Periodicals. According to the characteristics of authors, such as political tendencies, knowledge structure,the control of the theme of the fiction and the capacity to the market, to analysis of professional trend in authors. The third chapter back to Fiction Periodicals themselves, from the fiction type column designing, fiction language changing from elegance to vulgar and fiction critique to explain the tendency of its commercialization. The fourth chapter discusses business strategy of Fiction Periodicals. From three respects to sum up,they are the relationship between Four Fiction Periodicals and newspaper office or press attachment, the advertisements on Periodicals,and distribution channel.This paper is from the perspective of the commercialization to re-examine Four Fiction Periodicals. Fiction Periodicals as a cultural product, its creation, editing, distribution are affected by the fiction market. In the process of the development of Fiction Periodicals, authors and periodicals editors have consciously according to the needs of readers in terms of subject choice, the magazine operation, edit forms, fiction and criticism to make adjustments to cater to reader tastes. Operating mode of Fiction Periodicals, advertising, marketing strategy and distribution, had a profound impact of the development of specialized periodicals.
