Originating from the North-European countries, the day-fine system is based on the offender's daily personal income. That is to say, according to the adjudication, the offender should make a fine payment daily on the basis of a determined number of days and the amount of fine per day. Till now, the introduction of day-fine system has become an essential trend towards the reform and development of world criminal law. It is obvious that China, an influential power in the world, cannot remain to be static in this trend, and her relatively lagging fine system is also confronted with the reforming need. With the mushrooming of the society and economy, it is surely to be extraordinarily meaningful for introducing several innovative measures of fine penalty, including the day-fine system.Compared with other fine systems, the day-fine system has its unique and unparalleled advantages. It reflects the substantial justice in punishment, and it can help resolve the difficulties in enforcing fine punishment. Undoubtedly, under the circumstances at present in China, there are many difficulties for carrying out this system. However, the existence of these obstacles should not be the sufficient causes for denying the day-fine system in all scales. With the gradual perfection of related systems and measures, the day-fine system can be applied to China's judicial reform and practice.
