Career decision making self-efficacy is an important concept in occupational psychology. The previous researches have revealed that individuals with a strong sense of career decision making self-efficacy are more likely to make the right career decisions and tend to have a higher level of career maturity. Taking the undergraduate students in research universities as object, this study attempts to explore the basic characteristics both of their career decision-making self-efficacy and career maturity and the relationship between the two, with the aim to understand their professional psychological status and to propose reasonable suggestions and research data for career counseling in research universities.Methodologically speaking, this thesis belongs to a qualitative study based on data collection from questionnaires, which is conducted with reference to《The Career Decision Making Self-efficacy Scale of the undergraduates》edited by Peng Yongxin, Long Lirong and《Career Maturity Inventory of the undergraduates》, the Korea version revised by Zhang Zhiyong. The questionnaires are carried out among 340 undergraduates from four grades in H University in Wuhan in the following six aspects: gender, grade, major, birth place, family income and their parents'educational level. The study analyzes the relationship between career decision-making self-efficacy and career maturity.Research findings are listed as follows:1. Career decision making self-efficacy of the undergraduate students in research universities shows no significant difference between gender, major, birth place and parental educational level but it shows significant difference in grade and family income. 2. Career maturity of the undergraduate students in research universities shows no significant difference in major, while the difference is significant between gender, grade, birth place, family income and parental educational level.3. There exists the positive correlation between career decision making self-efficacy and career maturity for the undergraduate students in research universities. Career decision making self-efficacy have good predictive validity on career maturity.Based on the research findings, the author puts forward the following suggestions to the career counseling of the undergraduate students in research universities:1. The undergraduate students in research universities should learn to make the best of various resources to obtain relevant career information and to master career strategies, with the goal to get right understanding and objective evaluation of oneself.2. Combined with the characteristics of the research universities and the differences and hierarchies of the undergraduate students, a correct and humanity goal of career counseling and a comprehensive and specific career counseling system with its own characteristics should be established. Correspondingly, the personnel system with valid implements is to be formulated.3. Career counseling of the undergraduate students in research universities should be integrated with family and society, with a full depth of substantive help to the development of career counseling.
