In recent years, with the continual growth of China's inbound tourists, people have put forward higher requirements for the oral communication ability of English-speaking guides. For students majoring in tourism in secondary vocational schools, they need to take English as a basic course and also a specialized one. English-speaking guides are usually required to have the basic communication skills in oral English, and talk about the famous historic and cultural sites, local conditions and customs of our country, after mastering necessary professional skills of tourism. That's to say, it is necessary to highlight the improvement of students'communicative competence of English in Tourism English class. However, the teaching effect of Tourism English is not so good, because of students'poor English basic skills, poor abilities of studying, limited learning time at school, too difficult textbooks and so on. Therefore, there is significance in practice on this study.Dialogue Teaching is a method based on the equality between teacher and students, and a way communicated and expressed by talking or listening. When properly guided by teacher, students can communicate with teacher effectively by using Dialogue. As a new instruction form, Dialogue Teaching is not teacher teaching or students learning textbooks, but textbooks becoming a kind of talking source. There have been a number of important achievements about Dialogue Teaching at home and abroad recently, while most of them are only about document researches or theories, and few are about Tourism English in secondary vocational schools.This paper focuses on discussing the practice of Dialogue Teaching, highlights the characteristics of secondary vocational education, so that students'English skills can really satisfy the needs of their future work.This paper tries to apply Dialogue Teaching to Tourism English class in secondary vocational schools. By adopting questionnaire survey, observation and experimental research, it explores several aspects of this topic:the characteristics, the problems, the theories, the strategies, and the process of experiment. Results show that it is very effective and plays an important role in improving students'oral English; it fully arouses the students'enthusiasm of participating in class and enriches the class activities; it also gives zest to learn English; it is of great significance to offer a new idea about how to teach Tourism English in secondary vocational schools and how to promote the reforms of Tourism English education.
