Classroom questioning is a very important teaching approach, which plays an irreplaceable role in highschool English teaching. Classroom questioning is an interactive activity between teachers and students,which can inspire students' thinking, stimulate their interests in learning English and cultivate their ability ofdivergent thinking and creativity.The thesis is based on Krashen's Input Hypothesis and Swain's Output Hypothesis and from theperspective of English classroom questioning in senior high schools. Through questionnaire, classroomobservation and interview with teachers, the thesis aims to find out the current situation of classroomquestioning as well as the existing problems in senior high school English teaching and then put forwardcorresponding suggestions. The author hopes it can be helpful for other high school English teachers inclassroom teaching. The thesis tries to answer the following three questions:1. What is the current situation of classroom questioning in senior high school English teaching?2. What types of classroom questioning are most frequently used?3. What are the effects of different types of classroom questioning?According to the research results, it is found that there still exist some phenomena such as 'too simplequestioning','imbalance of distribution on questioning'. Based on the findings, the author puts forward somecorresponding suggestions to improve the quality of English classroom questioning.The thesis is composed of five parts.The background and significance of the research is introduced firstly.In the second part, definition of some relevant theories of classroom questioning is presented at first.And then classification and functions of classroom questioning are emphasized on.The research design is involved in the third part, research objectives and questions, research subjectsand research methods included.The results and analysis of the experimental research is introduced in the fourth part.The research conclusion, recommendations for future research and the limitations of the study will bepresented finally.
