In the ancient Tibetan culture, the bon religion and culture plays an important role and therefore it is important to understand the bon culture. There are varied commentaries and schools of thoughts on the bon religion throughout the different periods of the Tibetan history. A few Tibetan scholars also speculated that the origin of the Tibetan culture is rooted in the Indian culture-this, however, is a baseless line of thought and can be refuted. This can be assumed from carefully analyzing the reliable editions and thus the bon culture is the source and origin of the latter Tibetan culture. the bon religion is divided into the first, second and third translations. these varied opinions gave me a fresh new angle of research into this topic. Many essays are focused on the BON GURGYUR but not on the BON GURGYUR EDITIONthe bon culture comes from Xonxon and the references of the bon bkav-vgyur are hand-copied books except (?) and (?) editon. This essay concentrates on the BON GURGYUR EDITION and the information on this is scanty. The only research sources available are the History of bon bkav-vgyur and the introduction of the bon bkav-vgyur. |
