Economic Issues Of Digital Preservation

Digital information is vital resources in the epoch of knowledge economy; it plays an important role in the science, research and education, public policy, the creative industries, and the cultural heritage sectors. Digital information is inherently fragile, prone to information loss and degradation. The future use of digital information depends on the efficient preservation. As time goes on, the ongoing and efficient allocation of resources to digital preservation is going to become the decisive element.To ensure that the valuable digital assets can play an effective part in the future not only requires the funds collection, but also needs to mobilize any kinds of resources-human resources, technology and capital-covering a broad spectrum of stakeholder communities. However, the problem is what kind of digital information needs to be preserved; who is responsible for the preservation work, and who will bear the related costs.This paper tries to analyze the use and preservation of sustainable digital information from the perspective of economy. There are five main parts in this paper:The first chapter is the foreword, which consists of the selected topic origin, the significance of the topic, the domestic and foreign research present situation, the research methodology and the innovation of the article. Chapter two analyzes the sustainability of digital preservation from the economic property. Chapter three emphasizes the risks and countmeasures of Digital Preservation from the economic aspect. Chapter four analyses the economic problems by the cases of diffirent digital resource. The final chapter introduces the principles and countmeasure which help realize the sustainablity of Digital Preservation.
