Numerical Control (NC) technology and field-bus technology are two basics of industrial automation. Open NC is the tendency of the development of NC technology and promotes the development and application of NC technology as well. Real-time Ethernet technology copes out the drawback of the traditional field-bus and has became the new era in development of field-bus. The thesis proposes the development of a real-time Ethernet NC platform based on Windows CE and provides an example of developing an NC system based on that platform.The development of Open NC and real-time Ethernet is reviewed. Then the real-time solution of the main-stream Ethernet field-bus and the characteristic of innovative EtherMAC real-time Ethernet field-bus are introduced. The EtherMAC motion controller and IO controller are chosen to construct the hardware platform.The thesis analyses advantages of Windows CE on developing open NC platform. A new software structure of the pure-software motion control platform is induced. The thesis describes the modules' constructions and functions and researches the program structure of the real-time module, the realization of GUI and the design of data swap.The EtherMAC driver under Windows CE is the key element for Windows CE application to access the EtherMAC field-bus. After analysis the structure, the thesis uses the type of stream interface driver to develop EtherMAC driver using C++. The real-time test of EtherMAC field-bus indicates that the composed driver fulfill the requirement of EtherMAC communication.Finally, use the above mentioned platform to develop a roller lathe NC system and lathe-mill compound process system for a plat-making company using C++ and C#. G/M code is no longer used, and the task is obtained directly from ERP system. Workers adjust the property of the work-piece from the UI, and the auto task is generated. The information of machine tools, tasks and workers could also be transmitted to ERP system. The system fulfills the company's requirements and works stably, verifying the correctness and feasibility of the theory.
