With the development of science and technology, China has entered the high-speed, high-quality, high-efficiency of the information age, and so the development trend of network convergence is inevitable. "Triple play" is a multi-service network which integrates computer network, telecommunication network and cable network. It tends to use a unified IP protocol, and to be interconnected to a seamless coverage of business with each other infiltration and cross toward the same goal of the provision of diverse, multi-media, personalized services and gradual convergence.With the continuous integration of three networks, the continuous appearance of multi-vendor and diverse devices, the number of devices increasing, networks expanding, the complexity of the network increasing, high-level business applications for continuous integration. So, we need manage and monitor "new" network and its "new" equipment, it urgently needs a new network management system which can manage the entire converged network.This thesis introduces the background of the subject of triple play and summarizes the major issues and key technologies for new features and new demands for network management system after triple play, and describes an overall structure of network management system for triple play. It contains system architecture, system hierarchy structure and distributed database structure. Then, to solve the problems about long polling time, the management station burden and low efficiency when collecting the equipment data it proposes a parallel polling algorithm based on broadcast for the intranet environment. The experiment results demonstrate the high efficiency of this algorithm; Finally, especially the broadcast is not suitable for the triple play of the public network, so this thesis proposes a SNMPv3 improved model to support multicast. This model makes the SNMPv3 protocol framework support multicast by extending the MIB, extending SNMP engine, extending the group management and so on. Finally this thesis tests the data collection of network management system under actual environment from functional and performance. The results can meet the application requirements.
