The output power of traditional 1550nm EDFA is milliwatt and can't meet the requirements of atmosphericlaser communication system, inter-satellite communication system and C ATV systems which need the signal power more than 1 watt. The appearance of EYCDFA bought hope to the 1550nm fiber amplifier which can output the high power.In this paper, a 1550nm high power fiber amplifier was demonstrated and the output spectrum was analyzed. We employed a two-stage hybrid structure which comprised an erbium-doped fiber amplifier as the pre-amplifier and an erbium/ytterbium co-doped double-cladding fiber amplifier as the post-amplifier. By optimizing the length of gain fiber to make the output power raised. At the signal power of 10mW, the maximum pump power of the EDFA was 318.58mW, total pump power of the EYCDFA was 11.47W,14m length of the EYCDF, we got the 2.11W output power.
