The Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing (OFDM) technology is the key technology of Next Generation Mobile Communication due to its advantages such as high spectral utilization rate, high data transfer rate and the ability to oppose the multipath interference, for which it is also adopted physical layer of IEEE 802.16e protocol. For OFDM system is extremely sensitive to symbol timing error and carrier frequency offset, by which Inter Carrier Interference and Inter Symbol Interference can be easily caused, and then aggreate system performance is impacted. Therefore, synchronization technology has become one of major research topics in this domain.On the basis of study in OFDM system and IEEE 802.16e protocol, training symbol designed by binary sequences is introduced after analyzing synchronization technology of OFDM system in this paper, to achieve time-frequency synchronization algorithm which contains symbol synchronization and frequency compensation. Making use of fundamental theory of weighted factor, the paper designs new structure of traing symbol to improve accuracy of symbol timing and frequency compensation by research on property of binary sequences through IFFT Transform. The paper makes a great deal of performance simulation analysis to prove that the proposed ynchronization algorithm has ability to effectively improve timing performance of OFDM system compared with various conventional classic algorithm.
