Research And Implementation Of Campus Wireless Access Control Based On Inter-Institution Authentication

Today ,with academic exchange and the construction of open University, the campus wireless network to support inter-institution access is needed.If the university's wireless network access achieves mutual recognition of accounts, users can access the Internet through wireless network in the coverage area, making academic exchange more convenient and efficient.Because of the increasing requirement of the inter-institution resources sharing , Shanghai Education Commission Information Center(SECIC) completed the Shanghai universities inter-institution certified platform which realized inter-institution authentication, and it would be a basis of inter-school resources sharing .This subject based on the platform combines the construction of wireless network authentication of more than 10 colleges and universities, and integrates inter-institution authentication and colleges' own wireless access authentication. Then SECIC established research-oriented and engineered projects in early 2009, which was called "campus wireless access system".After a preliminary investigation, we developed a detailed requirement under the guidance from SECIC. And we classified the present situation of Shanghai university wireless network access authentication into four models: single-line certification, multi-line certification, polling certification and certification delegation. For these four models, we proposed three solutions of integrating the inter-institution authentication platform and universities' own wireless network access authentication: submit virtual form, push to the interface, and virtual LDAP/Radius proxy. At last we completed the 'campus wireless access system', and it was deployed in nine universities and two public areas. Besides, we also developed the management console in order to configure and manage the system easily.Shanghai campus wireless access system is the first application based on Shanghai universities inter-institution certified platform, that is a great step forward for the inter-school resource sharing. And it has some reference in other inter-school application development .
