With the significant increase in network resources, users'demands for resource retrieval are also increasing quickly. In particular, the emergence of the Semantic Web makes semantic retrieval as a major research focus. The current core of semantic retrieval research is how to dig out users'real intention according to the vague search terms and ensure a satisfactory return of rich resources.At present most of the semantic retrieval method using Ontology-based retrieval, which is due to ontology is the representation tool of knowledge's conception organization and the concept express to some extent the meaning of words/expressions, that is, semantic. Ontology can be considered as the symbol of semantic, so it has become an indispensable tool in semantic retrieval field. However, with the increase in the amount of retrieval, we have to consider reuse of resources. Especially in the field of education, we hope development resources at a time can be shared by lots of learning platforms, and can be reused. Scorm metadata description standard is the widely-used resource description and packaging specification. The resources which are described and packaged by Scorm metadata can not only be reused, but also be shared in the network platform.Therefore, according to the subject demands on"intelligent educational resources application platform based on ontology, semantics and pragmatics", that author participate in, this paper propose the idea of combining Scorm standards and Ontology. With the Principles of Computer Organization course as an example, we designed and implemented an education resources semantic retrieval system based on Scorm and Ontology. In this system Scorm metadata standard is used to describe the underlying resources and an association with the knowledge points of Ontology is established in this describing process. Thus using ontology reasoning, ERSR make semantic extensions on user's query through metadata descriptions, finally return the satisfactory results.The main work of this paper includes:â‘ In-depth analysis on Scorm metadata standard, on the premise of ensuring the sharing of resources, we choose the metadata iterms from Scorm metadata for the system according to the actual needs of ERSR system.â‘¡Based on the Principles of Computer Organization course, we extract knowledge concepts and relationships in this field and build ontology knowledge base, associate with the ontology knowledge base by the Scorm metadata description and provide semantic base for retrieval.â‘¢The semantic retrieval model that this paper proposes combined Scorm with ontology. Research on word processing, ontology reasoning and the related algorithm of similarity calculation, make full use of metadata description for better semantic search function.â‘£With the Principles of Computer Organization course as an example, we designed and implemented ERSR system. ERSR make better semantic extensions on user's query through metadata descriptions and return the satisfactory results. It is showed in retrieval results that this semantic retrieval, rather than traditional retrieval based on keyword, has significant advantages.
