More and more people are concerned about how to access embedded devices in network environment, and the most commonly used technique is to implant the web server into the embedded device. Web servers can provide customers a unified and friendly interface that makes embedded systems more standardized. Embedded web server (referred to as EWS) has now been applied in many fields, and its range of application is expanding.In the field of video surveillance, although there are a lot of needs for it, due to the video storage technology and network transmission constraints, embedded network monitoring products have been premature. Today, facing high market demand, breakthroughs of technical bottlenecks continue to be made, and it is the ripe time to develop EWS in the field of video surveillance.High definition IP camera is the latest achievement in the field of video surveillance, based on Linux operating system, it uses DM365 processor to compresses the video signal coming form camera and convert to data frames in the network transmission enviroment, through the embedded web server inside the camera, Web Browser can be used to set video camera parameters those are directly or indirectly processed by the web server, so an IP camera with an efficient and stable web server is very important.The work of this article is doing some research on the web server architecture and analyzing the demand of IP Camera EWS, and the purpose is to customize a web server meeting the needs of IP camera based on the development platform of TI DM365 processor. It supports for multi-access and has implemented the communication between web server and client in the IP camera.Based on the specific application of EWS in IP camera, the goals of EWS design are:less consumption of resources, stability and moderate security. The architecture of EWS is presented as four main modules such as HTTP engine, security module, application program interface module and standard module. With the specific requirements of IP camera, this article puts forward the implementation methods of four main modules, including HTTP request resolution, user rights certification, PSIA protocol implementation and so on.This article also discusses how to design and implement web resources, including web pages and video plug-in customization. The last section of this article is to test the performance and stability of web server in IP camera, the testing result is good, and the web server meets the application requirements of the system.The main work of this paper is how to access video surveillance equipment with LAN (local area network). To some degree, it is worthful for practice and innovation in the area of network video surveillance, and its implementation is also a valuable reference for achievement of the embedded web server in other areas.
