With the rapid development and popularization of the Internet, online games became a way of people's leisure and entertainment, along with the domestic game industry has sprung up. Network games have become the IT industry a new profit growth point. It is an important to explore efficient, safe, practical games. In this paper, we designed and developed a ShowHand online game conforming to the theory and methods of the software engineering. The first, we analyzed the popular game development technology. Then, we chose the development tools of ShowHand game and technology roadmap and described design requirements of the ShowHand games using UML modeling tools. Third, we designed Socket communication and safety of ShowHand online game which we should consider. Finally, we designed and implemented class diagrams of back-end server and the game client interface in the game design. When we designed and implemented the ShowHand game, we discussed the platforms of the game design deeply, described the implementation method of the main classes, database definition, and other key technologies, and solved the game common development problems we encountered in detail, such as Flash game development, memory optimization, Flash game graphics rendering optimization, garbage collection and memory leaks of the game, XML Socket, Java Socket Communication. We also discussed the system test with Eclipse Junit tool for unit test and analyzed the performance testing of communication performance Socket Server with the LoadRunner tool.We used the more popular web game development technology in the game development, such as java, Flash technology and portfolio development, in which java technology development for game server, Flash development tools for the client.
