With the rapid development and wide application of infrared imaging technology, the infrared image enhancement technology has become a very important research topic. In this thesis, the infrared image enhancement and the colorizing technology based on color lookup table are mainly discussed to improve the quality of infrared images and its visual effects.In terms of the infrared image enhancement, a new adaptive method to select platform threshold is improved based on common platform histogram equalization algorithm in this thesis, because the infrared images whose histogram peak is too high to affect the histogram equalization. Besides, a new limited condition is used in restricted Laplace sharpening algorithm with dual-threshold. Experiments show that these two improved algorithms both have better infrared image enhancement. In addition, from a large number of experiments of the adaptive edge enhancement algorithm based on fuzzy set, how to change the effect of image sharpening by the two values of the algorithm is analyzed, and the changing trend is summed up.In terms of the colorizing technology of the infrared image, the two-dimensional gray level transformation algorithm is used in near natural color fusion which applying daytime colors to nighttime imagery based on the color lookup table with the dual-spectral image in this thesis. And the limited pixel neighborhood average method for color image region growing is used to complement the initially generated two-dimensional color lookup table. This algorithm not only reduces the distortion generated in the color lookup table complementing, but also decreases the mistaken searching during the dual-spectral image fusion. Compared with other color image fusion algorithms, the proposed algorithm has better effect, and the color of the fusion image is quite bright, clear, and close to the natural color.
