Along with the development of the foundry industry, the Vacuum impregnation has become necessary in foundry production process, through this process, some defects such as porosity, micro hole, slag hole can be eliminated, and eventually improve the qualified rate of the product. The traditional manual operation method has been gradually replaced by automation equipment. The performance of the control system of vacuum impregnation equipment is directly related to the factory's production cost, production efficiency and product quality. This paper studies the working characteristics of the control system of vacuum impregnation production line, and use PLC controller to build the new automatic control system. The detail is as follows:1) According to the characteristics of structure and process of the production line, PLC controller is used here to build the control system of vacuum impregnation production line. According to the system's control characteristics of the input and output of the system being classified, and the electrical circuit is been designed;2) Base on traditional control mode, the manual and semi-automatic control mode is been developed. Due to the advantages of PLC, and hardware and software design methods of the manual and semi-automatic control mode is improved here, and the security solution is also been designed.3) Automatic control method is the focus of the research, be different from the traditional way, automatic way combine separate units into a whole, and forming a complete intelligent automatic control system. Beyond manual and semi-auto control characteristics, how to control the crane is the key of full automatic control way, through the study of the whole process of production line, the interrupt control method is found to solve the problem.4) In addition, the analog control is also a difficulty, how to guarantee the curing temperature constant is the key factor of the process, excessive temperature deviation easily lead to bad products. So the PID intelligent control theory for the curing temperature control is been discussed through this paper.5) Good control system must have a good human-machine interface, so in the end we put forward to the man-machine interface, and how to use the design software of Mitsubishi touching screen product, and takes some representative picture as an example to explain how to design the human-machine interface of vacuum impregnation production line.This system has been put into operation formally in the factory and is working very well, it fully meets the process and technical requirements and reduce the production costs, and the production efficiency and quality of product is improved.
