With the rapid development of wireless communication technology, a variety of radio access networks coexist in life, forming heterogeneous networks. Due to the complexity of the heterogeneous networks, the terminals need to face different access technologies, a variety of business types and different user needs, hence,the network integration is necessary to achieve resource sharing and meet the people's demand for the diversity of services.In recent years, research on network integration is gradually increasing, UMTS (Universal Mobile Telecommunications System) as the third generation mobile communication system can handle the real-time and non-real-time services and quickly access to the core network; WLAN (Wireless Local Area Networks) is able to complete the short-distance communication without the infrastructure.In addition,it has a higher data transfer rate.So the complementary characteristics of these two technologies can provide ubiquitous connectivity and high data rate.This thesis firstly analyses the reason that heterogeneous network can't communicate with each other in NS2(Network Simulator 2),and presents a extension method to make the simulator support the hierarchy address by extending the UMTS network node address.It provides a basis for the interoperability of the two networks in NS2 and the simulation results have show the correctness of the extension.Then summarizes the NS2 multi-interface implementation.And, on the basis of the structure of the NS2 node, a new Agent is carried out to combine the two different types of nodes into one.Through the gateway the two networks is integrated.Secondly,as the WLAN Mesh network as a radio access network is widely used in a heterogeneous networks,the author proposes a new L-WCETT routing algorithm considering the link type parameters as an impact factor of the path selected based on the WCETT routing algorithm. Because of the stability of the Mesh backbone network, communication nodes prefer the backbone network to transmit data, resulting in improving network performance.Finally, simulations are carried out to implement the multi-hop network communication of heterogeneous networks, and compare the L-WCETT routing algorithm with WCETT routing algorithm based on multi-hop WLAN Mesh network.Simulation results show that the L-WCETT algorithm reduces the packet loss rate, thereby increasing the throughput of the network.
