With the rapid development of network technology, the network continues toexpand. It is awareness of the issue of network security continues to improve. Thenetwork monitor and LAN security technology has become a very important area ofresearch today. Protocol analysis and recognition has been paid more and moreattention. It plays a very important role for setting a new agreement and improving thecommunication security standard as one of the key technology. From the aspect ofsecurity, the dissertation analyzes several security projects to resolve the LAN datatransmission currently.And it has an important influence and significance on improvingnetwork service quality,optimizing network resources and providing a more secure andreliable use of the environment.The dissertation firstly introduces the series of LAN technology IEEE802, andthen introduces Media Access Control function and its frame format are analyzed andconcluded. Algorithms based on bit stream eigenvalue analysis and recognition whichhave been put forward on the angle of random process, natural language and numericalanalysis,and implements software simulation. In contrast to today's LAN packetscapture tool, the dissertation raises the algorithms' superior advantages, Also a newmethod has been put forward for LAN monitoring software improvement.The system has been tested after designing. The test result reaches the expectedtarget. It can analyze and recognize the packets that were caught from data link layersuccesfully. The research results have practical value for recognizing the frame in thedata link layer.
