Operating Cost Analisis Of Urban Bus And Research On The Calculation Mathod

With the development of social economy, the expansion of city size, the population density and the demand of motorized transport travel surge, more and more people choose cars as the main means to travel. Traffic congestion has become a common problem in many cities and urban traffic department have to face many difficulties as the traffic jam and urban air pollution getting serious. How to solve this problem? United States, Britain, Germany, Japan, Russia and other countries have accumulated useful experience. The 2010 Shanghai World Expo display many possible programs for the future urban transport. Many transportation experts have reached a consensus that the development of public transport will be the key point. To solve the urban traffic congestion, giving priority to the public transport is the first focus and purpose.As the public transport has the characteristics of quasi-public goods, many urban public transport operating companies are in red and rely on financial subsidies to be maintained. Therefore, researches on how to reduce the cost of public transport operating through the analysis of operating cost is very necessary and important.This paper mainly studies two points that are characteristics of public transport and the service characteristics. Market characteristics and the duality will be analyzed for the theoretical foundation in future. Secondly, the composition constructs feature of public transport system's operating costs according to the analysis of characteristics of bus operating costs one by one, by the main factors that have impact on public transport operating costs. Thirdly, this paper choose calculation methods of operating costs through the scientific comparison and the selection of proposed multi-line centralized management mode, the operating cost method to calculate the advantages of bus operating costs and establish operating cost model. Selecting the Chengdu Airport Bus Group bus transportation company as an example and basing on the investigation data in 2008 make its operations cost demonstration analysis. Finally, the application of the operating costs in determine the bus fares of the sub-line, the financial subsidies and strengthen the areas of transportation management are introduced. While propose on how to reduce public transport operating costs, improve public transport operations, unit profitability, function and financial burden also are given.
