A Study On Financial Industry In Sichuan During The Period Of Republic Of China

In the Period of Republic of China, the financial industry in Sichuan has experienced a process which was from the start to the boom period, and then became to be down again. There were so many reasons, but the major factor was the close relationship between financial industry and the real economy. On one hand, the emergence and development of financial industry were built on the basis of commodity economy. Before the Anti-Japanese War, the development of new financial institutions in Sichuan was closely related to the development of commodity economy. On the other hand, every evolution of finances was the important role of promoting and facilitating the development of economy, which could be proved by the rapid development of industry and agriculture in Sichuan during the early days of the Anti-Japanese War. However, the mismatch or overexpansion of finances would also bring great damages to the real economy, for example the hyperinflation of currency in the latter part of the Anti-Japanese War and the Civil War. Therefore, understanding the development of Sichuan financial industry in the Period of Republic of China will be helpful to comprehend the relationship between finances and the real economy.The paper is divided into three parts, which include five chapters.The first part is the first chapter, introduction. Introduction describes the background, academic value and practical significance of the thesis, as well as the brief summarization on the study of Sichuan financial problems during the Period of Republic of China, and then proposes the innovations and inadequacies of this paper.The second part of the thesis is the chapter II, chapter III and chapter IV. In this part, the whole process of Sichuan financial industry in the Period of Republic of China is divided into three stages, which are before, during and after the Anti-Japanese War. Chapter II explains the financial industry in Sichuan before the Anti-Japanese War, which introduces the overview of the monetary and financial institutions, then describes the commodity economy, monetary, financial institutions and the characters of financial industry before the Anti-Japanese War. Chapter III mainly describes the financial industry in Sichuan during the Anti-Japanese War. First it introduces the development of the industry, agriculture, transportation during this period; then describes the issuance of currency, financial institutions and their businesses in details; finally summarizes the characters of Sichuan financial industry during the Anti-Japanese War. Chapter IV mainly introduces Sichuan's industry, rural economy and the status of the contracted financial industry after the Anti-Japanese War. In this period, due to the movement of a large number of industrial and commercial enterprises and financial institutions out of Sichuan, as well as the depressed economy of Sichuan, the financial industry went down.The third part is chapter five, which includes conclusions and inspiration. Firstly, it introduces the development process of the financial industry in Sichuan, and reveals the close relationship between the financial institutions and the real economy. Then it analyzes the contribution to the financial industry in Sichuan during the Anti-Japanese War. Finally, by the introduction of Sichuan financial industry during the Period of Republic of China, we could see that the relationship between finance and the real economy is very closely. Only promote the coordination of financial and economic development at the same time, the society could be improved stably.In the past, researches on Sichuan financial industry in the Period of Republic of China were focused on the financial industry during the Anti-Japanese War, and mainly described the financial industry itself. This paper tries to take Sichuan financial industry during the whole period of Republic of China as research object, and analyze the relationship between finance and the real economy, expecting to understand the development of Sichuan financial industry essentially.
