Iron and steel industry is the foundation of our national economy and strategic industries, However Performance of the steel industry as an important measure of good and bad, Performance improvements for the steel industry itself and the stability of the national economy has an important role in the sustained and healthy development, This has prompted scholars to affect the performance of China's steel industry, a large number of factors. Some studies based on SCP analysis paradigm show that China's steel industry, market concentration is low, iron and steel enterprises are small, restricting the quantity of the main factors of performance improvement; Other research support that there are diseconomies of scale in iron and steel enterprise features and Low performance is not caused by low market structure, efficiency is a key factor in improving the performance constraints.On the relationship between market structure and market performance, The most important doctrine in the theory of industrial organization is Market Power hypothesis of Harvard School and the Efficient Structure Hypothesis of the Chicago School. This article will include efficiency variable into the study of the relationship between market structure and performance study, and apply Empirical test to examine whether this tow hypothesizes is existing in China's steel industry, this is all for providing scientific guidance to formulate related industrial policies, which is also both practical significance and theoretical significance to the development of iron and steel enterprises in our country.
