The research on group decision making (GDM) problems is an important field in decision making. It has extensive use and practical background in economy, management, military, engineering design and so on. The research on theory and methods for GDM has brought people home and abroad wide attention. Some valuable research results have been found in recently twenty years, but it is faced with new challenges. In practice, there are many group decision situations in which the preference information provided by the decision maker (shuc as interval judgement matrix, ordinal interval and partial ordinal rankings and so on) may be uncertain because of the vagre and imprecise nature of human judgement and complexity of decision making problems. The study on GDM problems with uncertain preference information has brought attention, but it needs a deep going study on not only theory but also methods. This paper studies decision-making problems with uncertain preference ranking information, with the main contents as follows:(1) The methods for decision making with uncertain information and its related problems are summarized. Moreover, the process of group decision making, the main basic theories the research based on, including presentation of the problem with GDM and traditional methods based on numeral value are introduced.(2) The methods to solve the group decision-making problem with preference information in ordinal interval form based on social choice function are studied. The basic thoughts of Cook-Shierd function and Bernado function are used.(3) Two other methods based on traditional algorithm AL3 and OWA are given to solve GDM with uncertain preference ranking information.(4) Group decision-making problem with different preference information is studied. Ordinal interval and linguistic information is transformed into interval utility value firstly. And then according to the concept on the possibility for comparing two intervals, a goal programming method for ranking alternatives is given. Finally, the paper summarizes the research fruits, research innovation and conclusion. Following that, the further research needed is pointed out.
