In the global economic crisis triggered by U.S. subprime mortgage crisis, G20 played an important role as an emergency response mechanism. In 2011, the world economy recovers fully, and we entered into the "post-crisis era". As the world economic situation improved, the task that G20 undertook as tackling economic crisis has temporarily come to an end. Where G20 is heading into in the post-crisis era becomes a new topic. For this issue, the international political economy scholars have disputes. Some scholars hold the opinion that G20 will fade from the world economic stage; some hold the opinion that G20 will continue to play an active role in the economic field; and some hold the opinion that G20 will be a "Center of Global Governance". The core objective of this dissertation is to predict its possible development prospects and the likely path of its development, and on this basis to propose measures for China's participation in G20 by analyzing G20's developmental driving force, its advantages, its facing challenges and its role in the post-crisis era. This dissertation argues that the economic crisis further highlights the increasing impact that emerging economies have on the world economy. The trend of world multi-polarization will significantly accelerate in post-crisis era. In this context, G20's basis and driving force for further development is to consolidate global economic recovery trend, act as a platform for global economic consultations and become the channel of expression of interests for emerging economies. G20 mechanism has high legitimacy and a wide range of diversified dialogues; it has accumulated a wealth of management experience in long-term practice of response to the economic crisis, and is the ideal mechanism for global economic governance in post-crisis era.In order to realize this goal, G20 must make up its own shortcomings, overcome external challenges, and transfer from informal to formal mechanisms, to become the highest decision-making body dealing with global economic affairs. The path meets China's national interests in the post-crisis era; therefore China should adopt a positive attitude and flexible strategies to promote G20 forward. The basic framework of this dissertation is as follows: chapter 1 analyzes the international environment G20 is facing after the end of the economic crisis, which is, the basic characteristics of post-crisis era; chapter 2 discusses the developmental driving force of G20 and its unique advantages in the post-crisis era; chapter 3 summarizes many difficulties and challenges G2 is facing from aspects of systemic defects, members conflicts, constraints by other international organizations, etc.; on the basis of previous chapters, chapter 4 clarifies G20's role and position in the post-crisis era, and studies its development path and possible operating mode; attaching the present development situation and aspirations of future interests of our country, chapter 5 proposes policy recommendations for our participation in G20 mechanism in the post-crisis era.
