More and more scholars and enterprises start to accept Open Innovation Mode. It can help enterprises maximize the use of heterogeneous knowledge dispersed internally and externally by communication and exchange. And this can promote the knowledge creation in and between organizations.Based on Technological Innovation Theory, Resource-Based View, and Strategic Management Theory, concerning today's business environment as well, this study divides external innovation factors into twelve kinds of partners in all. This paper attempts to explore the impact of heterogeneity of external innovation factors on innovation performance in the heterogeneity perspective. This paper used case study and empirical research to test the hypothesis. Taking Neusoft Group as the case study, section two tried to find out the value of external innovation factors during innovation process. The author used questionnaire survey and quantitative analysis to analyze the relationship between heterogeneity and innovation performance. Samples were mainly collected from enterprises in Zhejiang, Shanghai, Guangzhou and Beijing.Through hypothesis-testing, heterogeneity of external innovation factors is composed of two dimensions:depth and width. The depth of heterogeneity has a negative impact on innovation performance, while the relationship between width and innovation performance varies according to industry properties.
