The Space-Time Conservation Element and Solution Element (abbreviated as CE/SE method)method is a new numerical method which is used to solve the Conservation laws. The CE/SE methodis studied in this thesis. This paper develops a CE/SE program which is based on unstructured grid, and use it to solve the2D and3D Navier-Stokes equations respectively. The thesis introduces the2D CE/SE numerical method. First of all, the construction of conservationelements and solution elements are introduced. Secondly, the conservation variables and their spacederivatives are obtained by calculation. Thirdly, the treatment of viscous term and boundaryconditions are introduced respectively. Based on the method mentioned above, the procedures areused for solving the2-D Navier-Stokes equations. Then, the paper carries out the numericalsimulations of a driven cavity flow, a shock/boundary layer interaction problem and a flow overcylinders. The results proves that CE/SE method has a large range of speed calculation of flowcapacity.Furthermore, the CE/SE method is extended to3-D cases. The3-D unstructured Navier-StokesCE/SE Solver is introduced. The driven cavity is carried out as an example in this thesis. The resultscompare well with the literature results. Finally, the CE/SE method is applied to the calculation of aerodynamic noise. This papernumerically studies the near field noise of a cylinder and a door type cavity at low flow speed. Thecomputed frequencies and sound pressure levels (SPL) compare well with the experimental andliterature results.
