Through analyzing the sand particles of Taklimakan Desert by using laserparticle size analyzer and image analysis software. Obtained the sand particle sizesconcentrated distribution between63to500μm, as far as the sand from dunes surface5cm depth. Most is middle sand, fine sand and very fine sand. Coarse sediment isless. For different height of the sand dunes, the sand particle size is different.thehigher the sand dunes, the sand particle size is smaller, the lower surface sand dunes,the sand particle size is larger.The sand from the both sides of desert highway,that’sparticle size between63-250μm,most is fine sand and very fine sand,the proportionis more90%.The particle size most is between63-250μm,For the sand from the sandcollector in NO.2Xiao tang weather station three times sandstorm March, April andmay2011.most is extremely fine sand and sand. Because the station is near the tarimriver, sand samples contain clay composition, greater proportion and grit,the particlesize is smaller and smaller from the bottom up.The sand particle size is smaller thanXiaotang station,for sand from the three times sandstorm in west station TazhongMarch and April2011.most particle size between63-250μ m.According to the sand microscopic images show: The sand dunes surface havemuch coarse sediment in Tazhong, for low spot sand dunes. Surface coarse sedimenterosion degree is obvious, most sand particles transparency is better, and that’ssurface erosion is obvious. Especially sand dunes windward slopes have much blacksand particles, protected slope is less, the sand particle sizes above0.3mm is more.The roundness value concentration distribute between0.8and1.0, the roundnessvalue between0.8and0.9is the highest, followed by the roundness value between0.9and1.0, other roundness value proportion is smaller. Xiaotang and Tazhongstation gradient sand particle size of the sample the more obvious abrasion, thebigger sand particle. Sand color, sand shapes are similar to the ground sand dunes.Sand particle roundness depends on sand particle size, the sand particle roundness isbetter with the size obove0.3mm and between0.074and0.125mm, but the sandparticle roundness is slightly inferior.
