Offshore platform is a kind of ocean engineering structure; it provides maritime operations and living places for the development and utilization of marine resources. In last few years with the development of marine offshore platform has been widely used, but the accident caused by the offshore platform has occurred constantly, so many scholars pay more attention to the problem of offshore platform security has conducted researches differently, how to correctly understand and prevent these accidents happen is the urgent issue. As a result of semi-submersible offshore platform structure is more complicated and the cost is very expensive and the operational environment is very complex and poor, because of platform damaged the life, property and the environment may caused serious suffered and broken. Based on this the more necessary to research and understanding of these potential threats existing platform and to ensure structural the platform safety have very important theory value and the practical significance. In order to assess the risk assessment the author of this paper has collected first hand data files of semi-submersible platform, carried out a detailed research and summary, the main research contents of this article mainly include the following aspects:Firstly, at home and abroad for offshore platform risk assessment of the status, the main offshore platform is introduced. Risk assessment, quantitative risk assessment theory, explores the ship and marine engineering field risk assessment.Secondly, introduces the field of Naval Architecture and ocean engineering risk assessment methods, introduces the definition of risk, risk assessment stage, failure frequency and the quantitative risk assessment process. And finally, since the Volkswagen shipyard built semi-submersible ocean platform as an example for risk assessment, mainly from the platform leak, blowout, collision extreme sea conditions and structural risk and structural risk and other aspects of the detailed analysis and calculation to determine platform, value at risk (FAR、PLL and SFIF), the completion of the platform risk assessment, and gives the suggestions and measures for improvement.
