Taihang Mountains has long been known as a tectonic-magmatic belt. In recentyears, however, some scholars proposed that it is an intraplate orogenic belt. Along-term debate about the mechanism for the formation of Taihang Mountains is thatit formed as a result of vertical uplift or horizontal contraction deformations, ordifferent dynamic mechanisms in different stage. This study is focused on the Mesozoic tectonic evolution of the Xinzhou, Wutaiand Yuxian area, this three areas have typical structural characteristics, Asrepresentatives of the North Taihang thrust deformation, to explore the North TaihangMesozoic tectonic evolution. For Its formation mechanism, a strong contraction of the different directions inthe late Mesozoic is a leading role, it caused the crustal thicken. The trending of thrustdeformation is consis of NE, NW and WE trending, in which the most stronglydeformed is NE trending thrust, it made the greatest impact on the regional tectonicframework, the NW and WE trending thrust deformation are weaker. According to ourfield observations, NE-trending thrust was first formed, followed by the developmentof NW-trending thrust, and finally the development of WE–trending thrust.based onthe LA-MC-ICPMS U-Pb dating, the age of NE-trending thrust is130.5~129.63Ma,the age of NW-trending thrust is latter than128.28±0.95Ma, so it is latter than theNE-trending thrust. The deformation is characterised by the coexistence of thin-skinned andthick-skinned tectonic, and low-angle thrusting dominated the deformationmechanisms. For Its dynamic background, according to the summary of ourobservations in the field and indoor, we tend to believe that northern Siberia plate, theeastern Pacific plate and the western Lhasa block produced a remote effect to the EastAsian continent collision which dominated the North China Late Jurassicmulti-compression deformation.
