This paper aimed at the limitation of formerly hydrogeological achievements and datasets in expressing hydro geologic structure、hydro geological conceptual model could inevitably led to a significant loss of information, extensive groundwater management, and then pointed out the necessity and the significance of carrying out3D hydrogeological modeling research.3D hydrogeological model could portray hydrogeological structure in an accurate and intuitive way, could be used in groundwater modeling and forecasting, optimize the groundwater management model, and assist making decision.Through research the present situation of3D hydro geologic modeling techniques and analyze the modeling methods, complex geological body building, modeling software, research and application examples, we fully understand the characteristic of3D hydrogeological model and the shortage of modern modeling techniques. The characteristics contain large scope of work, shallow in longitudinal direction; involve many faults and lenses, relative scarce and multiple type data. Current modeling methods have difficult in modeling the geological structure and lenses, comprehensive utilization of multi-source data and hydrogeological stratum sequence building. Based on the above understanding, we carry out techniques research about the3D hydrogeological modeling in this paper, such as Complex geological objects modeling, using data and data processing, comprehensive utilization of multi-source data, stratigraphic classification, modeling methods, the choice of the interpolation algorithm, model uncertainty and Modification of the model. A3D modeling method that suits for hydrogeology industry application-stratigraphic classification data with stratum distribution map multi-source data method was proposed. This method makes full use of the borehole data, integrates multi-source geological data and expertise knowledge to ensure the accuracy of the model, and could well satisfy the needs of practical application. Using this method, we built Hohhot3D hydrogeological model with the support of Deep Insight Geology Modeling software and MAPGIS K9software. During the building process, we carried out useful exploration in the use of multi-source geological data, the delineation of the hydrogeological stratum sequence, the collection of Interpolation algorithm and the model correction and so on. At last, combined with the problems encountered in the work and the shortcoming of the model, we developed a reasonable discussion on the future direction of3D geological modeling for hydrogeological industry.In a word, this paper provides an important reference for carrying out the three-dimensional modeling of the hydrogeological industry in the future through analyze the status quo of the three-dimensional hydrogeological modeling at home and abroad, research building method aimed at the shortcoming and weak point of current3D hydrogeologic modeling techniques. The Hohhot3D hydrogeological model reflects the understanding of the hydrogeological structure in existing condition, provides a reliable basis for a clear understanding of the local hydrogeological conditions and optimizing groundwater management.
