The dynamics of cold bosonic atoms in double-well potentials has attracted a great deal of attention in the last decade. A simplified many-body Hamiltonian with semi-classical predictions has been derived with important advantage of allowing the study of quantum fluctuations on top of the semi-classical quantum averages. The comparison of the semi-classical approximation and numerical results will be a very interesting work in the study of tunneling property of BEC in double-well potential. Here we discuss the solution of tunneling and stationary states property of BEC in double well potential, including coherent dynamics based on a semi-classical approximation of the GP equation in Smerziā€™s article and quantum phase diagram of GPE from3D to ID by numerically solving the ID non-polynomial Schrodinger. We then discuss the stationary states and tunneling dynamics on the basis of Bose-Hubbard model Hamiltonian in both the repulsive and attractive side of the interaction and compared with the semi-classical solution.
