Since the United States developed the first transgenic plants in1983, thetransgenic technology has received great attention and broad application.Currently, the transgenic technology has entered into a commercializationstage. A variety of genetically modified crops have begun to grow and sell, which have brought in huge benefits to the economy and people’s life. However, with the application of transgenic technology, people start to worrythat it would have negative effects on human and environment. Therefore, it isof great importance to face up the transgenic technology, to reasonably andefficiently apply it, and to detect and inform the customers of the informationof the genetically modified (GM) products. The main purpose of the study is to detect GM plant protein and establishmeasurement methods of authority for the GM plant protein. Based on theestablished methods, reference materials of GM plant protein are developed.International equivalence has been achieved through participation ininternational comparison, which has ensured the reliability and accuracy of theestablished measurement methods. Hence, a complete traceability and deliverysystem of GM plant protein is established to solve the problem that GM plantprotein measurement results could not be traceable.Isotope dilution mass spectrometry and ELISA etc. are used forqualitative and quantitative analysis on Bt protein (Cry1Ab, Cry1Ac) intransgenic plants. Meanwhile, the reference materials of Bt protein andpeptides are developed, which provide reliable, effective way to guarantee thefuture detection of GM protein. The accurate and comparable measurementresults of transgenic protein will protect the health of the general public andkeep the country’s dominant position in the foreign trade.
