Riparian zones of XiQuanyan reservoir are formed due to the use of reservoir operation and the seasonal change. The research section of this study area was the ribbon area between low water lines and flood water line. Set40sampling points by stratified sampling method to survey the vegetation in June2010to September. Analyze the characteristic of species composition, life form, plant community structure according to the relevant information and data calculation. Classification of plant communities was analyzed by the EWINSPAN to study the ecological characteristic of plant community. Screening out the suitable native plant species for the study of Phytoremediation by the riparian zones situation of XiQuanyan reservoir. The purpose is to provide a scientific basis for ecological protection and ecological restoration of XiQuanyan reservoir.The results showed that the number of species was great, there were about27families of57genera of82species, in which the most species were Asteraceae, Gramineae and Polygonaceae. Among them were13genera and21species of Asteraceae,8genera and9species of Gramineae,2genera and7species of Polygonaceae. According to the flora composition analysis, the components of landscape are simple. The family is mainly cosmopolitan; the category and species is mainly North Temperate. The life form of vegetation on this belt is mainly composed of annual herbs and perennial herbs; also plant had strong ability of growth and form small cluster or a single advantage in a short term can adapt well to changes of water line. Vegetation of the study area was main hygrophyte, aquatic plants was more scarce.This results showed that reed, Scirpus triqueter L, calamus, Sium suave Walt and Alisma plantago-aquatica to be the experiment plants for Phytoremediation. The experiments show that the five plants had strong abilities on water purification and growth ability. The removal rate of pollutants is up to80%by4different plant combination. The comparison of the total nitrogen removal is Scirpus triqueter L. and Sium suave (90.45%)> calamus and Scirpus triqueter L.(86.38%)> Sium suave and Alisma plantago-aquatica(85.91%)>reed and Scirpus triqueter L. The comparison of the total phosphorus is Scirpus triqueter L and Sium suave (90.15%)> calamus and Scirpus triqueter L (88.78%)> Sium suave and Alisma plantago-aquatica(88.61%)>reed and Scirpus triqueter L(88.3%). Plant had the strong suppression and adsorption effect on the spirogyra growth. It is important to Water purification.
