The magnetotelluric sounding(MT) is a kind of exploration methods that uses natural alternating electromagnetic field to researching earth electrical structure, it’s theory bases on electrical differences of the rock.At the moment the magnetotelluric sounding observations can provide up to20several parameters that what can be used in geological interpretation, but at present stage only apparent resistivity and impedance phase is applied in the quantitative interpretation, the other parameters only be used as qualitative reference. Tipper is one of the most important parameters of magnetotelluric sounding (MT), tipper vector’s amplitude reflects the lateral variation of resistivity in observation profile, while the dip angle indicates the trend of local structure,so it can play a very important role in geological explanations.In two-dimensional(2D) electric model, magnetotelluric sounding tipper response depends on TE mode that which matters the numerical simulation, it conducts tripper response with the finite element method and the high accuracy of double the quadratic interpolation. On the condition of2D,it turns to boundary value problem variational problem, using the finite element method to model the process of decomposing,interpolation, integration and overall synthesis each node of the ele-ctric field values obtained by solving the complex coefficient equa-tions, to obtain the electric field along the horizontal and verticalpartial derivative values by difference method and calculate the Tipper response according to tipper formula.Through the observation and analysis of the simulated results of tipper response’s resistive component, imaginary part and reference, along with the comparison of the result of TM,TE pattern’s specific resistance, further up demonstrate that tipper can excellent reflect anomalous bodies’distribute situation on landscape orientation, generally, take advantage of this tipper’s characteristic, we can apply tippers to distinguish multiple anomalous bodies’boundary, obtain definite effectiveness, and by means of abundant mock up test and calculate quantitative analysis tipper’s influencing factor as well. Based on the tipper’s two dimension response forward modeling, we put up a pilot study on tipper’s three dimension media response forward modeling, figure out in tipper’s three dimension media response’s consequence, these all lay the foundation of tipper’s next step inversion.
