In this paper the development and application of ZnO in dye sensitized solar cells and quantum dot sensitized was reviewed and it summarized the advantages and problems in the research. Then, the ZnO nanostructured materials research and development was discussed and it summarized the advantages and problems of the ZnO based photo-anode in DSSC and QDSC.ZnO nanorod arrays were prepared on the FTO(F doped in SnO2) by two steps. This paper studied how the reaction time and precursor concentration of hydrothermal reaction affect some quantitative parameters such as the diameter, length of nanorod and the aspect ratio. The quality of the thin film is the best of the reaction time of8h and precursor concentration of0.06M respectively with other parameters not changed.ZnO based photo-anode in DSSC and QDSSC of different reaction time were prepared. A systematic study of the reaction time and precursor concentration’s effect on solar-to-energy conversion efficiency was carried. The results show that the conversion efficiency with the reaction time of8h is the highest under different reaction time and the conversion efficiency with the precursor concentration of0.06M is the highest under different precursor concentration.In the QDSSC, the paper prepared the no-sensitized solar cells, single sensitized quantum dot solar cells and co-sensitized quantum dot solar cell based on ZnO nanorods and detected them respectively. The results showed that CdS and CdSe co-sensitized quantum dot solar cell has the better performance. However, the conversion efficiency of the no-sensitized solar cells is the lowest.The achievements of the research provide a valuable reference of the study of ZnO nanostructured material, DSSC and QDSSC. It has a certain theoretical significance and potential applied value.
