To be adaptive with the ocean exploitation, seawater hydraulics has sprung up asnew technology in recent years around the word. It has been widely used in the domain ofocean engineering and deep-sea equipments. So it has become an advanced topic occupiedin fluid transmission and control filed. As a crucial tool applied in ocean exploration,scientific expedition and underwater operation, submersibles can arrive in variouscomplicated ocean environment rapidly and accurately carried with scientists, engineers,technicians and equipments. It is very important in exploration and utilization of marineresources and in striking strategic value. Variable ballast system is an important part of thesubmersible while seawater pump is a crucial component. Therefore, the research onrelevant theory and experiment of seawater pump working in deep-sea is of mostsignificance.Based on the specific seawater pump mentioned above, this paper focused on theefficiency of the pump, and research work has done as follows:(1)Theoretical analysis and modeling simulation has proceeded pointed atvolumetric efficiency and its influencing factors of the pump. Relevant improvements ofincreasing efficiency are proposed; the mathematical models of mechanical efficiency ofseveral typical hydraulic pumps such as Wilson, Schlosser and Manring are analyzed andcompared. Schlosser model is chosen as theoretical basis to accomplish the analysis andcalculation of mechanical efficiency of the seawater pump in this paper.(2)Performance test platform of seawater pump is designed and built rested onmodularization consideration. Type tests such as running-in test, output volumeconfirmatory test and efficiency experiment are conducted. Comparative analysis andperformance valuation of the efficiency experiment results are done.(3)To carry on environmental test of deep-sea components, pressure vessel isdesigned and also the environmental experiment imitator of deep-water is developed.
