Although common nozzle has the advantages of simple structure, high injection pressure,but poor atomization quality. Air blast nozzle is widely used in liquid atomization device. Itsmain characteristic is which designing air channel in the nozzle, using compressed air sprayeffect, at high speed with liquid discharge, to atomize the liquild into fine droplets.In thispaper, the atomization quality and the internal flow of the internal mixing air blast nozzle areinvestigated by combining numerical calculation and simulation.Base on spray droplet size distribution function which is derived by Professor CaoJianming,this paper calculates spray droplet size distribution by computation programprogrammed by FORTRAN language. The comparative analysis showed that theoreticalcalculations results fits well with the the Malvern measured experimental data,.And singlecrest curve showed a decreasing trend in the first increases and then verify the effectiveness ofthe spray droplet size distribution model.Because the nozzle size is small, the structure is complex, and its internal flowvisualization studies is difficult by a conventional physical simulation experiment, and themacroscopic flow and turbulence of the fluid in the nozzle pulsation has a strong effect on thespray. With the development of computational fluid dynamics CFD software technology,nozzle performance is studied by computer numerical simulation. This paper bulit thethree-dimensional model in CFD to imitate the internal flow field of the nozzle, and analyzedinternal pressure distribution, velocity distribution, gas-liquid volume distribution and internalcavitation under different conditions. Numerical simulation results within the air blast fannozzle has guiding significance.It is a good make-up to the nozzle experimental research.
