The underwater signature characteristics measurement techniques on non-cooperative targethave important research value in the military field, and it is the primary means of access tosignature characteristics of foreign ships. At present, we have been able to get some signaturecharacteristic about the foreign ships, however, because of lacking effective means of dataprocessing, so that these valuable data cannot work the best. Research on trace method has nowbecome a bottleneck technology in the non-cooperative target’s underwater signaturecharacteristics measurement. This paper is focused on the ship’s trace method in non-cooperativemode. Underwater electric-field location and photographic location are the primary two methods.On the electric-field location, this paper begins with the cause of the ship’s underwaterelectric field and modeling analysis of the ship’s underwater electric field.“Air-sea water-seabed” three layers model is used to simulate shallow marine environment, and simulated theship’s underwater electric field by a number of superimposed electric dipoles’ electric field. ThePOWELL search method is used to inverse model parameters of the target’s coordinates, speedand course, just like analogy passive magnetic location. And the factors which could affectthe model’s precision, for instance, the position of array, the space between sensors, the velocityof source, and SNR are analyzed in this paper. At last the evidence has been verified in the sink.On the location by photographic method, this paper uses the binocular location method,which has a relatively wide range of applications in the field of machine vision. It bases on Marrtheory, relying on pinhole imaging model, and uses a linear calibration method to calibrate thecamera. At last, it uses the least squares method to calculate the three-dimensional positioncoordinates of the target for guarantee equations. The paper makes the experimental verificationand the error analysis for this theory, and proposes a new calibration method of separation ofinternal and external calibration matrix for the sake of characteristics of non-cooperative targetsat the sea.
