Since2006, the optical transformation theory, which is based on invariance of Maxwell’s equations under coordinate transformation, has provided a whole new method of controlling electromagnetic wave. People can first construct space mapping according to the design, and then calculate the corresponding transformation medium from optical transformation theory, and the electromagnetic wave can propagation in a pre-set way in this transformation medium. With the rapid development of technology of the new artificial electromagnetic materials, the optical transformation and invisibility technology also develops rapidly. Supported by artificial electromagnetic materials, various novel electromagnetic/optical devices designed using optical transformation have been produced constantly. The optical transformation application has gradually extended from the microwave to far-infrared, infrared, near-infrared and visible light, even to the surface plasmon, surface wave, acoustic, mechanics, matter wave, and thermodynamics, etc. Being a special case of time-dependent electromagnetic fields, direct current/magnetic invisibility cloak is also put to the experimental verification recently. In this context, we design a dc illusion device and verify it by experiment. The work mainly contains following aspects:1. We make in-depth research of the basic principles of optical transformation and mechanism of invisibility, and give the formulas of electromagnetic parameters in space transform.2. We derive and illustrate the design model, background parameter, radial and tangential resistor and matching resistance of dc illusion device. We also set up the experimental device with the anisotropic resistance network, complete the circuit design and simulation in the ADS environment. 3. We weld the experimental circuit board and then draw the simulation and actual measurement potential distribution diagram. The research shows that the design can turn an actual metal object turns into a virtual amplified equivalent dielectric object when it is detected from the outside. The experimental results fully confirm the excellent properties of this device. The device accomplishes its test under a special case of time-dependent electromagnetic fields that is zero frequency (direct current). It is an important part of the complete electricity (magnetic) invisibility theory.
