The thesis is intended to integrate the four theories which based on the four elements of science, technology, engineering, industry respectively into one which the author calls artificial nature and process theory. Using the artificial nature and process theory and on a theoretical foundation of transformation from natural object, to artificial objects and to social objects, the author makes a research on the industry and industrial development. The necessary relationship between industry and meeting people’s needs is also explored in the thesis. The theses consists six chapters and are divided into four parts. The first part, introductory section, describes the research method and innovation of the research, and reviews the relevant documents.Part Two is Chapter Two. This chapter deals with formation and development of Artificial Nature and Process Theory, anal sizes its meaning and gives out the definition of industry in the perspective of Artificial Nature and Process Theory. The viewpoint by the thesis is that through the industrial mass production, the realization of shift from artificial objects to the social objects is achieved. And thereby systematically and the process, the social practice of human needs is satisfied. The transformation from artificial objects to social objects is achieved by human through the media of science, technology, engineering, industry.Part Three consists Chapter Three, Chapter Four and Chapter Five. This part discusses that through the industrial mass production, industrial structure adjustment and industrial value propagates, and the artificial objects are transferred into the social objects to meet human needs. Chapter Three mainly explores how does industry meets human’s social needs and make artificial nature develop through the bases of machine which is the material condition of production, management in the unit of factory, production conducted under conditions of social division of labor, standardization, industrial mass production. Chapter Four explains how artificial nature goes further and broader with the artificial objects keeps being transferred into social objects through industrial adjustments under the classification framework of technology. Chapter Five mainly argues that the process of transformation from artificial objects to social objects is in effect the process of industrial appreciation. Through reasonable proportioning of cost and scale, the transformation of science and technology value or other factors, the industrial appreciation and innovation of artificial nature are realized. Part Four of the thesis is the conclusion of the research. The possible further research is also identified in this part.
