Conductivity is the measurement of the strength of the conductive ability. It isknown that ionic conductivity can be obtained by calculating the average of the ion driftvelocity. This paper shows a new derivation by using entropy.This paper starts with jumping of ions, studies the number of possible states and calculatesthe entropy of system. Firstly, we analyze the entropy of conductor,then given the most probablecurrent use the maximum entropy principle. Finally, we identify a competition between thesystem entropy and the environment entropy. The entropy competition determines the mostprobable electric current from whose form the same conductivity is extracted.We compare withthe method of drift velocity, the method based on entropy method is complex, but it reveals thegeneral form of system entropy and environment entropy. It can be extend to study othertransport phenomena. |
