Vegetation plays an important role in land cover changes that reflect the status ofregional ecological environment. Normalized Difference Vegetation Index (NDVI)can reveal the coverage growth condition, biomass and photosynthesis intensity ofvegetation and land cover changes. The use of wavelet analysis method in detection ofland-cover changes could provide information on the state of regional ecologicalenvironment. It is not only an extended application of wavelet analysis but a novelapproach for time-series remote sensing images processing.In this study, taking Baicheng City of Jilin province as example, land-coverchanges was analyzed using wavelet analysis toolbox in Matlab on the basis of SPOTVEGETATION NDVI image during1999-2010and the precipitation data in the last12years. The results showed that the wavelet analysis method could effectivelyextract the relevant vegetation information at regional scale.This thesis consists of five sections. The research progress of land-cover changeand wavelet analysis at home and abroad, the purpose and significance, the contentand technical route of this study are described in section1. The second sectionintroduces the natural environment and social economic conditions of Baicheng Cityin Jilin province. In section3, the data source and data processing method areinterpreted, and the land cover of Baicheng City is classified using the SPOTVEGETATION multi-time series image. In section4, the change of vegetation typeand the range of vegetation dynamic change in Baicheng City are analyzed using thewavelet analysis method. The final section is the conclusion and prospect.
