The environment is related to basic human survival and closely related to developmentof natural conditions; water is the most important factor in the basic ecological environmentprotection. The old industrial base in the latter part of the Liaohe River Plain is the core areaof Liaoning Province, water has become one of the important factors which constrained thedistribution of economic development and improvement of the ecological environment.Groundwater resources account for65%of the total water supply in recent years.Theirrational exploitation of groundwater resources and the increasing emission intensity has ledto the deterioration of ecological environment, and even led to irreparable consequences.Nowadays, groundwater ecosystem health has been given far more attention. The area of thegroundwater ecosystem sensitivity and ecosystem health research is of great significance.Geographic Information Systems (GIS) computer technology and the production is acommon product of information systems development, which combines geography, graphics, data, analysis techniques as a whole, is powerful for creating, editing, graphics andgeographic database and its space analysis tool set. As GIS technology matures, with acomprehensive analysis and spatial modeling capabilities, and can be modified at any timeand update the database so that the evaluation process becomes simple and easy togroundwater ecosystem studies provide strong support, which greatly promoted thegroundwater ecosystem health research development, has been widely used in evaluation andmapping of groundwater.Considering structure features of groundwater systems, regional natural conditions, theexternal pressure, resources and ecological environment protection, by the evidence ofgroundwater ecosystem health factor, the system of groundwater ecological sensitivity ofLiaohe River Plain have been constructing. By using of GIS technology, evaluating theecological sensitivity of the groundwater and ecosystem health provide a basis for the rationaldevelopment and utilization of groundwater, groundwater resources management andprotection.
