The linear engineering is the engineering that have a larger proportion of span-cross section. Most of linear engineering are for transport, including roads, railways, oil and gas pipelines, canals, etc. Because of the span of linear engineering, it always cross different areas. Gansu is located at the cross point of the Loess Plateau, the Tibet Plateau and the Inner Mongolia Plateau, the physiognomy is complex, as an inevitable, the llinear engineering in this area will be influenced by more geological hazard.Take the linear projects in Gansu Province for example, just like highways, railways, oil and gas pipelines, this paper comprehensive analysis the physical geography and regional geological environment, study the characteristics and distribution of the Linear engineering geological disasters. Then describes the purpose of geological hazard regionalization, analysis the distribution of geological disasters, take the geological hazard regionalization by the referance of Gansu Province highway geologic hazard regionalization principle. Finally, analysis the geological disaster risk, composition of the risk, the purposes, content and principle of geological disaster risk assessment.Linear engineering geological regionalization is based on physiognomy, causes of geologic hazard and relations with the engineering. Geological disaster risk assessment is the process of qualitative analysis or quantitative analysis with the probability, nature and extent of the geological disasters risk in a certain time. Include risk assessment, vulnerability assessment and loss assessment.
