Bipyridine carboxylic acid ligands are a versatile organic ligands, it takes various advantagement on the self-assembly of supramolecule and synthesis of coordination polymer due to its two nitrogen atoms of pyridine rings, two carboxylic groups , potentialπ-πstacking of aromic rings and extensive hydrogen bond. Hence, the coordination polymer or supramolecule with bipyridine carboxylic acid ligands are usually exhibit some peculiar properties. For example, special adsorbsion selectivities, molecular identification, gas storage, ions exchangement, catalytic function, chemical luminescence et al. Basing on above properties, we selected bipyridine carboxylic acid as ligand to synthesize some rare earth(RE), alkaline earth(AE) metal and RE-AE mixed metallic complexes with hydrothermal method. The work of this dissertation is following:1. Under hydrothermal conditions, the reaction of Ca(NO32·4H2O and BPDCH2(or 2,2’-bpy and p-phth) were carried out, {Ca(BPDCH22}n(1) and {Ca2(p-phth)2·6H2O}n(2) were obtained. The results of the crystal analysis show that (1) belongs to the monoclinic system, space group C2/c, and (2) are monoclinic, space group P2(1)/c.2. Rare earth complexes were prepared by using of the rare earth chloride salt and 2,2’-bipyridine-5,5’-dicarboxylic acid, 2,2’- bipyridine or terephthalic acid. The effects of parameters of reaction temperature, pH and type of anionic salt on the formation of complexes were investigated carefuly.3. RE-AE mixed metallic complexes were prepared by reaction of the rare earth chloride salt, alkaline-earth metal salt and 2,2’-bipyridine-5,5’-dicarboxylic acid, 2,2’- bipyridine or terephthalic acid. We also research that the influence of reaction temperature, pH, anionic salts, etc. on the formation of complexes.4. The complex composition and structures were characterized using elemental analysis, IR spectrum, fluorescence spectroscopy and X-ray diffraction. The crystal structure of calcium complexes and fluorescence properties were characterized by using of X-ray diffraction and fluorescence spectroscopy analysis. The fluorescence properties and thermal stabilities of others complexes were also discussed in this paper.
