Natural gas is the high-quality energy, which has high calorific value, little environmental pollution, and high economic benefits; To speed up the natural gas industry and its supporting facilities has great significance for optimizing energy consumption structure, reducing urban pollution and achieving sustainable socio-economic development. Underground gas reservoirs can alleviate the non-equilibrium relationship between natural gas supply and consumption effectively, compared with other kinds of gas storage, depleted oil-gas reservoir underground gas storage is most widely used due to the shorter construction period, the less investment, and it needs less cushion gas.In this paper, we take Dagang Oilfield gas storage project as an example to evaluate the environmental impact of the clean production, the project construction process and the production operation stage of depleted oil-gas reservoir underground gas storage. The result shows the followings:Depleted oil-gas reservoir underground gas storage, used to clean natural gas storage and transmission projects, is itself an environmental project program. It can reduce the energy consumption, improve the level of pollution control, and reduce the production of pollutants and emissions if the construction of projects and cleaner production were coordinated. There is no impact on groundwater in normal operating period of the project, but in the accidental state, the gas storage reservoir may become a source of pollution of groundwater, but we can avoid it this completely with the help of precise design, strict construction and management. The gathering station and gathering pipeline are the primary risk units of the depleted oil-gas reservoir underground gas storage program, the possible accidents of the project are uncontrollable blowout, lost circulation, leakage of flammable material and fire, and gathering pipeline rupture encountered fire, which is the maximum credible accident,. However environmental risk could be is controllable if we take appropriate accident prevention steps and comprehensive environmental risk contingency plans. The study of this paper can provide a scientific foundation for the design, s construction, production, environmental management and pollution prevention of the depleted oil-gas reservoir underground gas storage program. This work helps to minimize the adverse effects on the surrounding environment and to achieve the unity among economic, environmental and social benefits, and it can promote the development of environmental science.
