With the rapid development of computer technology, Virtual sculpture has been more widelyused, it plays important role in art, industrial design, NC machining simulation and other areas.Virtual sculpture based on machine vision will have wide development space because of simplicity,accuracy and strong commonality.This paper mainly discusses camera calibration, target recognition,target tracking, target reconstruction, swept volume of the virtual sculpture system. And a specialvirtual sculpture system is designed by means of VC++6.0, OpenCV and OpenGL.The main researchcontents are as follows:In camera calibration, first the experimental platform of stereo binocular vision system is builtaccording to the principle of imaging of stereo binocular vision system, then the camera calibrationprinciple and several camera calibration methods are studied, finally the camera calibration methodbased on2D plane is selected to complete the camera calibration.In target recognition, first several target recognition methods are studied, then the methodcombining frame difference method and background difference method is selected to complete thetarget recognition.In target tracking, several target tracking methods are discussed and a target tracking methodbased on Kalman filter is putting forward: first the target point is predicted using Kalman filter, thenthe search area is determined, the last the target point is positioned accurately in the search area.In target reconstruction, the use of epipolar geometry constraints will make the search area formtwo-dimensional plane down to one-dimensional line, then SSDA algorithm is used to realize thetarget matching, so as to realize the target reconstruction.In modeling of swept volume, the process of modeling of swept volume is discussed in detail:first the engraving tools is simplified, and then the swept trajectory is fitted, finally the swept profileis picked up to construct the swept volume based on the theory of envelope.
