Because of large population of our country, people have a great demand for food. So, the usageof pesticide in the agricultural production has been high which produced much pesticide wastewater. As a result, the water environment was heavily polluted, which is harmful to human health. In thispaper the treatment of simulating pesticide (Chlorpyrifos) wastewater was researched by optimizingthe design of electro-coagulation (EC) reactor. The wastewater was treated by human-made pairedaluminum-titanium anode EC device. The results showed that the treatment efficiency of organicphosphorus wastewater by such device was good. The removal efficiency of organic phosphorus wasreached at73.12%after it was treated for15min, if the initial concentration of the wastewater was50mg/L, and the voltage was set as8V.Ultrasound-assisted EC was applied to weaken the electrode passivation phenomenon andimprove the degradation effect for Chlorpyrifos wastewater. The treatment efficiency on static andflowing status was discussed respectively. The research results showed that, when the voltage was10V, the pH value was6.00, the ultrasound power was70W and the organic phosphorus concentrationof10mg/L, the removal efficiency of organic phosphorus was99.56%after15min. For thewastewater with flowing rate of250mL/min, the removal efficiency of organic phosphorus couldreach99.84%when the voltage was9V and the ultrasound power was80W. The pH value and theorganic phosphorus concentration were the same as that on static status.Through the analysis of treated wastewater samples, the possible oxidative degradation pathwayof Chlorpyrifos in wastewater was derived. The degradation mechanism of the ultrasound-assisted ECmethod to treat Chlorpyrifos wastewater was also discussed.
