Through the investigation and study of Shenyang municipal solid waste present disposal situation, the main methods of waste disposal is landfill, and there is two landfills presently in Shenyang: daxin and laohuchong, which daily waste handling capacity is 4800 tons. Landfill gas which directly discharged into the atmosphere is an important source of greenhouse gas emissions and has played a certain extent on global warming.Reasonable waste disposal options of Shenyang municipal solid waste play an important role in reducing greenhouse gas emissions. In this paper, three approaches of landfill gas power generation, waste incineration power, and waste anaerobic digestion and incineration power integrated are selected to analyze the impact of greenhouse gas emissions.Widely used landfill gas models in China currently are as below: the IPCC model, EPA land GEM, Central American landfill gas model and the UNFCCC methodology tool. UNFCCC methodology tool is more targeted, as a landfill gas calculation model, and more suitable for China’s actual conditions and more reliable.Methodology is used to calculate GHG emission reductions of landfill gas power as below: Methodology ACM0001-Baseline methodology and monitoring methodology applied for proposed project ACM0001“Consolidated baseline and monitoring methodology for landfill gas project activities”and ACM0002“Consolidated baseline methodology for grid-connected electricity generation from renewable sources”, which developed by UNFCCC are adopted. According to methodology ACM0002 and the Northeast power grid of relevant data , the“operating margin”(OM) and“build margin”(BM) are calculated, finally combine the average of OM and BM of Northeast power grid ,baseline emission factor of Northeast power grid is: 0.9096 (tCO2/MWh). From 2003 to 2012, if using landfill gas power generation by calculation,the average annual reduction emissions of Shenyang are 110343 tons CO2 equivalent. From the above results, the effect of landfill gas power generation in the greenhouse gas emission reduction is extremely obvious.Methodology is used to calculate GHG emission reductions of waste incineration power is as below: the methodology AM0025 " Avoided emissions from organic waste through alternative waste treatment processes ". According to calculations, from 2003 to 2012, Shenyang total greenhouse gas reduction emissions is 5646263 tons CO2 equivalent, and annual average emission reductions is 564626 tons CO2 equivalent. Compared to landfill gas power generation, the effect of this approach of waste incineration power generation in greenhouse gas reduction emissions is more significant.By calculating GHG emission reductions of waste anaerobic digestion and waste incineration power generation integrated approach, from 2003 to 2012, annual average greenhouse gas emission reductions is 750,044 tons CO2 equivalent. Relative to a single treatment of landfill or incineration , the effect of integrated approach greenhouse gas emission reduction is more visible.
