In the industrial fields, with the development of modern science and technology, the high performance, high precision and high automation equipment and the high hardness, high strength, high wear resistance, high heat resistance, high corrosion resistance and high functional materials are increasing. Engineering ceramics, glass, carbon fiber plastic, granite and other hard brittle materials and titanium alloys, high strength steel, high temperature alloy and stainless steel difficult-to-machine materials are applied widely. Especially in aviation, spaceflight, weapons, ships and nuclear industry, due to the special of the product processing environment, they needed the new structure and function to new difficult-to-machine materials. And the grinding machining is still one of the basic ways to process these difficult-to-machine materials.Grinding difficult-to-machine materials often encountered to severe burn, much grinding wheel waste, hardening, low processing efficiency and a series of serious problems. So for grinding difficult-to-machine materials, especially new materials difficult, workers are difficult to select the correct grinding parameters, which may lead to waste of expensive materials and grinding wheels. But through the grinding database, you can quickly find the grinding parameters of difficult materials which are similar with the required.In the design of grinding database system, according to the process characteristic of difficult-to-machine materials, the grinding technology for difficult-to-machine materials are classified. And it optimizes the grinding process on the basis of that. Simultaneously according to existing temperature model it can forecast the grinding temperature. Using object-oriented methods for constructing database systems, making database construction tend to be more scientific, reasonable, and greatly improving the utilization of information and the service level of grinding information resource. And it establishes the good foundation to popularization of grinding data sharing socialization and the development of grinding industry technology.In this issue, the focus on research and development of the grinding database system for difficult-to-machine materials and the grinding temperature adaptive control system. In the grinding database system, it’s programmed by the computer programming language. In the adaptive control system, take the grinding temperature as an example, establish a model reference adaptive control systems, and simulate the adaptive control process by using the computer programming.
